Bring your installed copy of Mafia II Classic. The launcher prepares the multiplayer client and server resources.
A copy of the city.
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
- Your own installed Steam edition of Mafia II Classic. Definitive Edition is not supported.
- Steam running and the original game able to start normally.
- Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime and the game’s required DirectX / Visual C++ components.
The game is not included. PlayM2 checks the supported game executable; it does not replace your Steam executable. The first connection downloads client files and server resources in addition to the installer.
Install PlayM2.
Get the current Windows installer from our download page and follow its setup prompts. Open PlayM2 from your desktop or Start menu.
The installer currently has no Windows publisher signature. See installation help if Windows reports a warning.
Get PlayM2 →Point us to your game.
In the launcher’s Settings, select Mafia2.exe in your Mafia II Classic pc folder. You can find the installation in Steam through the game’s Manage → Browse local files option.
Keep Steam open. If verification fails, check the edition and original files before trying again.
Choose PlayM2 Freeroam.
Refresh the server list, select PlayM2 Freeroam and use its connect/play action. Allow the signed client update and resource preparation to finish. Keep the launcher open while the game starts.
The first preparation can take longer than later connections. If it fails, keep the exact error and visit Support.

Once you are in.
Explore, drive and meet other testers. Press T for chat and Esc to close its input. Read the community rules and known issues before testing with others.
The platform is still being developed. Expect interrupted sessions and changes; persistent RP characters and public server hosting are not part of this release.
